My Everyday Makeup Look!

I have received a few emails requesting that I do an everyday makeup look. Now I am by no means a makeup guru, nor do I always wear makeup everyday. However, I thought I would share my everyday makeup products that I use when I'm just going out to run errands, meet with clients, or just want a simple makeup look.

My Everyday Makeup

1. Foundation- To start off my everyday makeup application I use my Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation in the shade 2N1 Desert Beige. I just use a flat top kabuki brush and apply a small amount all over my face. I love this foundation for several reasons. First, the coverage. This has medium to heavy coverage that you can build up if need be. Second, it is long lasting. I have no problems (when I use a setting powder) keeping this foundation looking great all day long.

2. Face Concealer- Next I apply my Sonia Kashuk All Covered Up Concealer to any blemishes or hyper pigmentation spots on my face. I'm in the shade 01 Porcelain. I love how blendable this concealer is. I talk about this in my favorite concealer blog post. It is so creamy and a little goes a looong way.

3. Under Eye Concealer- This Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Highlighting Conealer was also mentioned in my favorite concealers blog post. This concealer works miracles under my eyes! It helps conceal those dark circles while brightening the under eye area. Makes me actually look awake even if I'm dragging for the day.

4. Eye Liner- I must admit I sometimes skip the eye liner step; especially if I'm just doing work from home. However, when I do decided to apply it I'm usually wearing my NYX Retractable Eye Liner in the color 02 Black. This eye pencil just glides right on my eye lid and doesn't smudge all day! Other bonuses include, it's water proof, cruelty free, and hypoallergenic. I typically go for brown eye liners (and still wear them a lot) but I find that smudging this eye liner out creates a less harsh look.

5. Blush- I love blush! It is my favorite makeup product to collect and play with. I don't usually wear blush and bronzer at the same time unless I'm really doing up my makeup. I typically opt for one or the other and, you guessed it, the blush wins. Since I love blush I don't really stick to the same blush everyday, but more often than not I tend to reach for my NARS Blush in the color Deep Throat. What I love about the NARS blushes is that they are so lightweight and natural looking. You can down play the color or build it up for a more dramatic look. It also feels great on the cheeks!

6. Setting Powder- Not much to say here because I talk about my MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural all the time. I'm in the shade light. I apply this directly to my T-Zone and it sets my makeup for the day. Perfection!

7. Mascara- My current mascara that I'm loving (and wearing all the time) is the Maybelline Volum' Express Falsies Flared. Perfect for an everyday look, this mascara really lasts all day and doesn't clump while giving you great looking lashes.

8. Lip Product- Unless I'm going out on a date with my husband or doing a more intense makeup look, I typically avoid lipstick on a daily basis. Mostly because I'm drinking coffee and water pretty much straight through all day! I opt for something that is going to hydrate my lips and add only a soft sheen to them. The Nivea Lip Butter in Raspberry Rose Kiss is my favorite. I did a more in depth blog post on these products previously.

Well there you have it, my everyday makeup products! Of course, like many women, I love to dress up my makeup and try new products.
What is your everyday makeup look consist of?

Cheers?

Razor Debacle in my Morning Shower

Happy Thursday! No...wait, I take that back (for me at least). My morning did not start out  'happy' like I had planned.
I knew in advance (last night) that I was going to have to replace my razor head in the morning. So this morning I got up and opened a brand new box of razor heads and brought the package into the shower with me to replace the old one.

10 MINUTES LATER!

I still, for the life of me, can't get the razor head to attached to the razor. I tried every which way. Then it hits me. This razor head is blue and says Hydro. As in Hydro Silk razor. My razor is pink...as in... I have no idea what it's called razor.

Needless to say, after standing in the shower for 10 minutes trying to place a razor head on a razor that just wouldn't work, I realized I had purchased the wrong refills for my razor. Luckily I had some (get this) Hydro Silk DISPOSABLE razors in my vanity that I was able to reach for and use this time around.

After I stumbled out of the shower feeling defeated and somewhat humiliated that it took me this long to realize I had the wrong refills; I did some research. Turns out I had the Schick Quattro for Woman razor and had purchased the Schick Hydro Silk Refills. Those my dear lady friends, do not work together.
Since it is much cheaper to just buy a new razor than it is to get new refills for the razor I already own, I will be heading to Target this afternoon.

Lesson learned.

Cheers!

Transition to Fall!

I don't know about you but FALL is my favorite season! I'm fighting the urge to pull out all my fall decorations before the actual start of it. That might even be this weekend now that I think about it.
Fall just isn't the same here in Florida like it was up north. There was always a clear cut off between summer and fall in New York. Here, it just sort-of blends together until the end of November.

Nonetheless, I still go about my fall rituals in getting my home all set for the season; regardless of my location.

I thought I would share what I do to get my home fall ready!

1. Change out my Candles!- This is probably the first item I tackle off my 'get ready for fall list'. Something about having the condo smell like fall gets me all pumped up for the season! My favorite candle scent is from Bath and Body Works and it's called Leaves
(I know this is a good one for most of you!)

2. Changing up my Closet- I don't live in the north anymore so it's not the biggest of deals for me to pull my sweaters and coats to the front of my closet. However, I do still want to get out some of my longer sleeved shirts and fall colors ready to go. This is the next item that I get to on my list. I pull my fall clothes to the front of the closet for easier access. On top of that, I take the time to purge and donate any summer clothes that were on their last leg or just not in my color wheel anymore! Any excuse for more shopping...right?

3. Re-Organize my Makeup- This may sound weird to get ready for the fall...but I organize my makeup based on season. There are just some colors in my collection that I only wear in the summer. The bright pinks, peaches, and lighter formula products. I like to get some of my darker tones out, for example, cranberry colors, mauve, rose, etc. These colors do my face proud in the fall time so I like to switch them out!

4. Switch my Handbag- O yes! Handbags! I like to rotate via season. I know call me crazy, but many of you do it too! In the summertime I usually like to have a cross body or light bag on my person, but in the fall is when I can pull out my larger bags! For this fall season I brought out my large brown handbag that has loads of room and goes with any fall outfit I can throw together.

5. Put out Fall Decor- Like I mentioned prior, I'm trying to wait until the first day of fall (officially) to put out my decorations. I may have to just pull down the bins and stare at them until then. I don't have a large quantity of fall decorations (not like I do Christmas), but I have a good amount to make my home feel cozy. I also have some Halloween decorations that I like to put out mid-October.

How do you get ready for Fall? Is there something that MUST be in your home to make it feel like Fall? Apple cider maybe? Let me know in the comments below!

Cheers!

How I Stay Organized: Walking Pharmacy

Where would I be without my little walking pharmacy? I know what you are thinking. Pharmacy? Sounds like you are carting around a bunch of pills.
Yeeeaaaah... no.
I've heard the term walking pharmacy used by other ladies so I have adopted the term to be applicable to this little case of my everyday on-the-go needs.
So in my purse I keep this little makeup case that serves as my walking pharmacy. I think I got this case at T.J.Maxx a few years ago. I wasn't really using it so when I decided to put together a small walking pharmacy this case came in handy.

So what is a walking pharmacy and what do I include? Well for starters, most of the items that I have in here are what I would normally keep in a zipper pocket of a purse with a few bonus items included. I like to keep all these items corralled in this case because then I know exactly where I can find what I need. Instead of (the all too familiar) endless searching for a tissue or Ibuprofen.

Here is what's included!
(This is just a few things that I keep in my walking pharmacy. You can tailor this to carry anything you please)
1. Ibuprofen: I keep this in my walking pharmacy for headaches, cramps, or even if other people need some for an ailment.

2. Bath & Body Works Hand Sanitizer:I always keep hand sanitizer in here because I prefer to always have the option to the kill germs on my hands. It is nice when my husband and I are out and about shopping and we want to grab some food. Always a good thing to have on the go!

3. Tea: Yes. This is cray cray! I carry two tea bags around with me just in case. I like to have the option of tea and if we are somewhere that doesn't have a kind I like then I have what I need. Just order up the hot water!

4. Tissues: We all have runny noses from time to time.

5: Moist Towelettes: I keep these if I grab a few extra from a restaurant. The are a necessity after I shove my face with BBQ.

6: Chap Stick/Lip Balm: I always have a lip balm in my pharmacy. Keep those lips hydrated and looking good y'all!

7: Not Picture Items: I have a few items that rotate in and out my walking pharmacy. Currently they are not in here, but make their way in as needed. They include:
Tampons (during that time ladies)
Hand Cream (when I notice my hands are more dry...during cold months)
Band Aids (I usually keep some in here at all times, but they have been used..ouch blisters!)

I love having my walking pharmacy all together in a little case. Easy to take to the bathroom and easy to find everything I need.
What would you keep in your walking pharmacy?

Cheers!

Recipe Share {Korma Curry Chicken}

Recently Joey had been craving curry. Mostly due to the fact that our neighbors cook curry flavored foods all the time! We can always smell the deliciousness wafting from their condo.

I never really cooked curry rice or chicken before, and I had no idea what to try. I had been shopping with a friend a week or so ago and we happened into World Market (which is like a mecca for around the world foods and items). She pointed out this Patak's brand of curry sauces and how she really enjoyed them.
I decided it was time.
Time to bite the bullet and just try to cook SOMETHING that tasted like curry for my husband.
I actually picked up a sauce that seemed a bit different. It was the Patak's Korma Curry Sauce. And it is the basis for this entire recipe.
It actually has more of a coconut and spice flavoring. It is yummy for sure!

So here is what you'll need!
Chicken Breast
3/4 Cup Flour
1 TBS Salt
1 TBS Pepper
1 TBS Garlic Powder
1 TBS Parsley
Korma Curry Sauce
Vegetable Oil
Rice

Step 1: Cut up your thawed chicken breast into bit sized cubes. I would estimate needing about a cup and a half (when cut).
Step 2: Coat skillet pan with vegetable oil and heat to a medium-high heat.
Step 3: Mix together your dry ingredients in large bowl. Then coat chicken pieces. Make sure that each piece is coated thoroughly.
Step 4: Start cooking rice according to package instructions. I measured out 3 cups of uncooked rice to cook for this meal. (we had leftovers...)
Step 5: Place chicken in heated skillet and cook until chicken is cooked through. Outside should be a golden brown color. (make sure chicken is cooked fully, but not over done)
Step 6: Coat the chicken in Patak's Korma Curry Sauce.
Stir together and let simmer for 3-5 minutes. Then serve over rice!

Enjoy!

Cheers!

How I Stay Organized {Folding Towels}

Yes. I'm talking towels. Not so much because it is this "huge organizational factor", but more so because nothing makes me happier than to have freshly folded towels.
Excuse me...CORRECTLY folded towels.
mmhhhmmm.
You could say I'm picky over how my towels are folded, but I'm perfectly fine admitting that I obsess over it from time to time.

Needless to say, while folding towels certainly make me happy, it also really helps when organizing the linen closet. Everything looks streamline and you don't see any towel tags, seams, or towel corners.

Here's how I fold!
1. Fold your towel in half. Hamburger style. Remember that from school?
2. Fold in one side. Hotdog way.
3. Fold in the other side.
4. Finally, fold in half. Stack nicely in the your linen closet.

Happy Towel Folding!

Cheers!

Young NASA Housewife: The Liebster Award!

I don't think I can possibly pin-point a time when I didn't want to blog. Sure, like most bloggers (hopefully I'm not putting words in your mouth), I would struggle to find the time between clients and house duties to type up my little post to share; or I would suddenly be stricken with a case of writers block that seems to haunt me all day. Nonetheless, I have loved, loved, LOVED this blogging journey sharing what I have learned and discovered along the way.
I actually surprised myself when I sat down and went over my Filofax to tally up my time spent blogging. And it's not just typing the post. The photography, editing, writing, editing some more, publishing, and then continuously interacting with my readers (which is my favorite part!) It takes time, well spent time and I wouldn't turn back for a second.

Young NASA Housewife was recently nominated for The Liebster Award by Marta from Petite Raisin. This is an honor because I SO enjoy reading her day to day adventures and her photos are awesome!
The Liebster Award name comes from the German word meaning dearest (too cute!) and is given by bloggers to other bloggers. The nominees are bloggers with fewer than 200 followers. This recognition is a great way to share blogs within the blogging community and network amongst some of the newer blogs/bloggers.

Here are the rules for receiving this award:
  1. Thank your nominator by linking back to their blog- THANK YOU PETITE RAISIN!
  2. Answer 10 questions posed by your nominator
  3. Nominate 5 or more bloggers, who have less than 200 followers, for the award
  4. Create 10 questions for your nominees to answer
  5. Notify your nominees

Marta's Questions:

1. What mistake have you made that you’ve learned from?

O my...starting with a tough one! Hmmmm...well I have to say I have made a few mistakes in my life so far (haha), but I think one would be taking everything personally. This is something I'm still learning from, but I have learned that sometimes business is just business and I can't take it so personally.

2. If you could travel back as yourself to meet your teenage self at 16 – what would you tell them?
Continue to be true to who you are. Don't EVER feel like you have to be pushed in a certain direction.

3. What is your favourite childhood memory?
My sister and I used to play just as the snow was melting that we were stuck in the "snow land". We couldn't step on the grass at all so we would jump, leap, and run around in the snow land.

4. Who ha
s been the biggest influence in your life?
My parents...hands down.

5. What movie can you watch over and over and never get sick of?
I'm going to change this question a bit to TV show because I own them on DVDs. ALIAS!!!

6. What goal do you have for 2014?
I would like to grow my business a bit more and start a family :)

7. What’s your favourite piece of clothing in your wardrobe?
I have a slight obsession with Lululemon. I would say my Lululemon Run Speed Shorts in the color black.

8. Who would win in a fight – Steven Segal, or Chuck Norris?
Chuck Norris! -I'm a huge fan.

9. What did you do for your high school graduation/prom?
I went to several proms; all which were pretty much the same. Great group of friends, limo, food and dancing at a venue, then bowling or dessert afterwards. Good times!

10. What was your very first job?
I worked at a Bed and Breakfast on the lake for a sweet older couple. Best first job ever!

My nominations are:

Julie at Xfallenmoon

My Questions--
1. What have you enjoyed most about blogging?
2. Where is your favorite place to travel?
3. Are you an introvert or extrovert?
4. What is the most difficult thing you have undergone this year?
5. What are you overly obsessed with? i.e. food, clothing, books, places etc.?
6. Worst piece of advice you have ever received?
7. What is your favorite book?
8. How do you spend your free time (if you have any)?
9. Describe your most embarrassing moment?
10. Give one tip for fellow bloggers- something you have learned.
